Square Microstrip Antenna for Broadband Applications

Microstrip antennas have become a prominent choice for modern communication systems due to their low profile, lightweight, ease of fabrication, and cost-efficiency. However, a significant limitation of conventional microstrip antennas is their narrow bandwidth. In many broadband communication systems, such as Wi-Fi, cellular networks, and satellite communications, a wider bandwidth is required to support high data rates and multiple frequency channels. A square microstrip antenna, a variant of the traditional microstrip patch antenna, offers a viable solution to enhance the bandwidth without compromising the antenna's compactness and performance. This paper explores the design principles, performance characteristics, and various methods to achieve broadband performance in square microstrip antennas. Key aspects such as feed methods, the use of parasitic elements, substrate materials, and slotting techniques are discussed in detail. The paper also explores the challenges and applications of square microstrip antennas in broadband communication systems.
